Open a new document
Create a new layer
Make your shape using the rectangular marquee tool or whatever tool you want for making other shapes

Enter quick mask and gaussian blur by 25
|

Now adjust levels to make the corners rounded
Use the following settings

Return back to normal mode and you should see a selection
Fill that selection on the new layer with color of your choice
|

With the selection still active, move it down/left as shown below
|
 |
Fill the selection with white or whatever color you choose on the same layer
Repeat step 5
|
